1. Purpose and Nature of the Activity

This training course involves exposure to simulated high-risk environments intended to replicate real-world emergency and disaster scenarios. Activities may include, but are not limited to:

• Navigating through simulated collapsed structures and disaster zones

• Manual handling of equipment and mannequins

• Exposure to loud noises, flashing lights, confined spaces, and psychologically intense scenes

• Physical exertion in challenging environments

• Working at height

• Working in or around water

  
  

Participants may not have prior experience in these types of settings. Full instruction, supervision, and safety measures will be provided.

2. Acknowledgement of Risk

I understand and accept that participation in this course involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Slips, trips, and falls

• Cuts, bruises, or musculoskeletal injury

• Emotional or psychological stress due to realistic scenarios

• Temporary exposure to heat, cold, or darkness

• Minor contact with non-hazardous simulated substances (e.g. fake blood)

  
  

I confirm I have been informed of the general nature of the course and its risks and have had the opportunity to ask questions before signing.

3. Declaration of Physical and Mental Fitness

I confirm that:

• I am physically and mentally fit to take part.

• I have declared any relevant medical conditions or injuries.

• I will follow all safety instructions and wear required protective equipment.

• I understand that I may withdraw from any scenario at any time if I feel unwell or unsafe.

  
  

4. Limitation of Liability

I understand that The Soteria Group Ltd, its staff, trainers, and volunteers will take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure a safe training environment.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I agree that:

• I participate voluntarily and accept personal responsibility for my safety.

• I will not hold The Soteria Group Ltd, its employees or affiliates liable for any injury, loss, or damage I may suffer, except where caused by negligence or breach of statutory duty.

This waiver does not exclude or limit liability for:

• Death or personal injury caused by negligence

• Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation

• Any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law

5. Medical Consent

In the event of illness or injury during the course, I consent to:

• Basic first aid treatment by trained personnel

• Emergency medical treatment if required

• My emergency contact being informed

6. Data Protection and Confidentiality

Personal data provided (including medical information) will be kept confidential and used solely for the purpose of course participation, safety, and emergency response, in accordance with the UK GDPR and The Soteria Group’s privacy policy.
